Dear Parent/Carer

As pupils approach the end of their two year Standard Grade course in English and Maths we take the opportunity to organise Prelim exams in these subjects.

The rationale behind sitting Prelims are:

• To collate evidence for potential SQA appeals
• To assess current progress and decide on the appropriate level of entry
• To assist teachers with their planning so they are meeting all learners needs
• To give pupils the opportunity to experience SQA exam conditions

During this diet of exams pupils will be expected to:

• Register as normal and wear full school uniform
• Exercise the highest levels of conduct
• Work to their full potential and set highest personal goals
• Refrain from taking any mobile phone, mp3, iPod or such devices into the exam room

I confirm that there will be no study leave for S3 pupils but I would encourage all to make good use of the two in-service days. Should any pupil misbehave during Prelims or cause any disruption then they will be removed, forfeiting any chance of an appeal.
